Quick answer

Pickly is an independent product-comparison platform that scores every listed product 0–100 across four pillars: Quality & Performance, Value & Price, User Experience and Brand & Trust. Weights shift by category so the score reflects what actually matters for each kind of product. Rankings are never paid. Browse best-of lists, compare up to four products with the comparison tool, or read our scoring methodology.

The method

How a Pickly score is built.

Three steps, no sponsorship, no guesswork — the same process for a £12 kettle descaler and a £2,400 laptop.

  1. We gather the evidence

Catalogue specifications, buying criteria and linked sources where available. Evidence coverage varies by product; check the exact model before buying.

  2. We score four pillars

Quality & Performance, Value & Price, User Experience and Brand & Trust, each 0–100 and weighted for the category you're shopping in.

  3. You get one honest number

A single composite score with the full breakdown visible — plus the price history, retailer options and the reasoning behind every verdict.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about smart shopping with Pickly.

What is Pickly?+

Pickly is an independent product-comparison site that ranks every product 0–100 across four pillars — Quality & Performance, Value & Price, User Experience and Brand & Trust — so you can compare apples-to-apples in any category from laptops to skincare.

How is the score calculated?+

Each product gets a 0–100 score per pillar (Quality 30%, Value 25%, UX 25%, Brand & Trust 20% by default). Per-category weight overrides shift those defaults — for example performance counts for more on a laptop than on a moisturizer. See the methodology page for the full formula.

Are Pickly reviews independent?+

Yes. Rankings are determined by our scoring methodology, not by advertisers. Some outbound retailer links are affiliate links, but they never influence scores or placement.

Which categories does Pickly cover?+

Electronics, kitchen & home appliances, health & wellness, beauty & personal care, sports & fitness, furniture, fashion, pet care, automotive, outdoors and more — across 20+ categories.

Where can I find the best-rated products?+

Visit /best/[category] for ranked top-10 lists, or filter on /browse. Examples: best laptops, best espresso machines, best running shoes, best skincare.

How we rank & verify

Plain-language answers about our certifications, scoring methodology, and what keeps Pickly independent.

How do you decide which products to rank?+

We pull products from across each category — major retailers, independent brands, and emerging labels — then score each one with the same 4-pillar public methodology. There's no pay-to-rank: a brand can't buy a higher position.

What does “verified certification” actually mean?+

Catalogue labels can describe ingredients, animal-testing policies, forestry standards or company-level certification. They are not interchangeable. Check the named certifier's official registry and whether the current certificate covers the exact item or company.

What goes into the 0–100 score?+

Four weighted pillars: Quality & Performance (build, benchmarks, durability), Value & Price (price-to-spec, warranty), User Experience (ergonomics, sentiment) and Brand & Trust (certifications, support, sustainability). The full weights and formulas are published on our Methodology page.

How is this different from regular reviews?+

Pickly brings recorded scores, product details and buying criteria together for comparison. Linked sources are shown where available; a score alone is not proof of laboratory testing, certification or complete evidence coverage.

How often are rankings updated?+

Catalogue changes are published through scheduled updates. Pages may retain cached information for up to 72 hours; check the retailer for live prices and the manufacturer or certifier for current product details.

Do you accept money from brands?+

We use affiliate links on outbound retailer buttons, which means we may earn a small commission when you buy. This never affects scores, ordering, or which products are included.
